How billing works

What you pay today, what recurs, and where every number is printed.

What you pay

There are two charges. One is taken today, for the sketch and the written reading. The other is a monthly subscription for the weekly note.

The amounts, the interval and the exact date of the first recurring charge are printed in numerals on the price page, directly above the button. That is the one page that shows them, so it is the page to read them on.

The same words are in the email that delivers your sketch. It quotes what you agreed to, word for word, with the amounts and the date. Keep that email and you keep the agreement.

When the first recurring charge lands

The first recurring charge lands on the date shown on the price page, 7 days after you agree. After that it comes once a calendar month: 12 charges a year, never 13.

Each charge goes to the card you gave at checkout, and it shows as PHATE on your statement.

Nothing else is charged

Nothing else is ever charged, and there is nothing else to buy: no add-on, no second reading, no higher tier. If a charge from Phate is not one of the two above, it is a mistake, and the last section says what to do.

Emails about money

Phate sends two kinds of email on its own: the one that delivers your sketch, and the weekly note. It sends a sign in link only to an address that asked for one, or, while sketches are free, pressed the price page's button with an order already behind it; a deletion confirmation only when one is asked for at your address. Neither does anything until you open it. Beyond those it writes to you only to answer you, or to give a notice the law requires, such as a change to the price or to the terms. No receipt comes from Phate after a charge. The card processor may send a receipt of its own, under its own name. The date on the price page is the one to note.

If a charge looks wrong

Write to the contact address with the date of the charge and the last 4 digits of the card. Never send the full card number. A person checks it against your order and answers by email.
